You’ve Got to Dream

On 28th June 2011 one of my dreams came true, to attend a Romance Writers of America annual conference.  My desire to attend one of these conferences started way back in 2002, after I’d had my daughter and had found a wonderful group of friends in the eharlequin.com community.  I so badly wanted to meet those girls and a conference was one place to do it.  Sadly it took me 9 years to get there but I did.  I finally got to met some of the girls from there and it was so much fun.

Another wonderful thing about the conference was it’s location – New York City. New York is the place everyone would like to get to.  If you were a fan of Friends, you want to see the apartment building where Monica, Rachel, Chandler and Joey lived in.  If you were a Sex and the City fan, you want to go to the bar the girls frequented. You want to see Times Square. There is so much there and I for one, never thought I’d get there. But I did.

My first taste of just how many people would be attending was the Literacy Signing. People were lining up over an hour before it officially started. If you weren’t registered for the conference, you had to go downstairs and wait.  A room filled with authors a most amazing experience. It was just the start of what was to come.

I know something I have decided I want to happen and that is to change the blue stripe across the bottom of my name badge to a pink stripe.  The stripe that tells the world I’m an author.

That’s my dream and I’m going to get it.
