I was so excited when my plane landed. I was in a place I never thought I’d get to in a million years – New York City. I was also excited because I would see some close friends from home and my fellow WInk Girls – Lesley Ann Smith and Cath Ryan.
The drive to the hotel was interesting, there was a seatbelt but no place to click it into, so I was holding on tight and closing my eyes as the taxi driver weaved through tiny gaps in the traffic. When we got to the hotel breathed a sigh of relief.
After a slight room hiccup we got into the room and had a spectacular view of Times Square. After contorting myself I looked down and saw a massive Bumblebee – it was gone the next day so I couldn’t take a picture 🙁
That night was the literary signing. That was amazing in itself. Women lining up with boxes and that was just the registered conference goers. Downstairs the general public were lining up to get books signed by their favourite authors. When the doors opened there was row upon row upon row of tables with authors. Managed to catch up with a couple of people that I wanted to which was good. Should have done a bit more of that. In the actual conference, it was hard to meet up with everyone I wanted – actually almost impossible!
It was a great way to end the day. I wish I’d stayed a little longer but next year I’ll know better!!
So that’s the round up of my first day in New York. Next installment will be my first day of the conference!!

Sounds like things got off to a marvelous start. I've never ben to an RWA conference, but I plan to make it one of these years. Glad you had a great first day.
