First Times

On 28th June this year I’ll be jetting into New York City to attend my first ever Romance Writers of America annual conference.  To say I’m a tad excited is an understatement.  I can’t wait!! Not only for the conference but to see that amazing city of New York.  I find it unbelievable that I actually have the opportunity to go and visit this vibrant city. I know that if I wasn’t living in Houston I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford it or the fact that we’ll make it a family holiday!

I’ve printed out the schedule of events and the workshops.  I’m not sure which workshops I’ll attend, I’ve highlighted a few but will go back in a couple of days and look at it and highlight a few more.  One thing I know for sure and that is I’ll be purchasing the CD’s of the event.  That way I’ll hopefully get to hear some of the workshops I was unable to attend.  I wonder how I can find out which workshops will be recorded and which ones won’t.  That may weigh up which workshops I’ll attend and which ones I won’t.

Also I have to say I’m just as excited about seeing New York as I am to go to conference.  I’ve already decided I have to check out the locations of some of my favourite tv shows.  Like the iconic bridal shop “Kleinfelds” from “Say Yes to the Dress” or Carlo’s Bakery from Cake Boss.  Not to mention the usual haunts of the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Tiffanys.  It’s going to be an action packed 10 days!! 

So once again I’ll be a conference newbie and I can’t be more excited. Roll on June 28th!!
