T-Minus 4 Days & Counting – The World is Smaller

So when I started this countdown release day seemed days away and now it’s almost upon me.

I’ve spent the last few days organising my calendar so I know where I’m going to be over the next two weeks.  Oh I’m not talking about physical places, I’m talking about cyber places.

Today we have the opportunity to connect with people in a more personal manner, what with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc the world isn’t such a big unreachable place.

I know this from experience as the technology age of internet and skype has made me able to keep in contact with my family and friends in Australia while I’m living in Houston. I’ve connected with family and old friends and I’ve made a heap of new friends.

Many years ago the only form of communication authors had with their readers was via the handwritten letter.  I’m sure any author that received a fan letter that touched their soul, still has that letter and probably looks at it when things are down.  The only reviews the author saw was if they were printed in their local newspaper or a magazine. In some respects that was good.

Today with Goodreads, Amazon, B&N and blogs, the opportunity to review books is available to all. As mentioned in another blog, you have to have a thicker skin nowadays than you did, say 20 years ago.

On the plus side, this availability give us the opportunities to have blog tours where we can talk about our book, connect with new people and visit a heap of places all from the comfort of our home – no planes or bags to be packed.

I will be embarking on a blog tour, you can find out about it on my home page from the “Masquerade Blog Tour” badge that has been specially made from my tour organiser “SupaGurl Blog Tours“. I’ll put up a detailed listing of all the places I’m going to be and I hope you come visit.

Do you think the internet and social media is a good or bad thing?

I think it’s what you make it. In our cases, social media is fantastic. It helps us meet new people, promote ourselves and/or product, and continue to grow in our abilities. There are others, however, that don’t use it for good, and thus social media can become a not so good thing.

    • Absolutely! I do love the social media because of the ability to see how my family is doing. I can give my nephews and cyber slap upside of their head if they’re being silly!

And yes indeed and there are people that use it for the wrong thing, unfortunately it can’t be stopped and tragic consequences sometimes occur.
