Today I’m reviewing “The Man With the Locked Away Heart” by Melanie Milburne. This was released in April 2011 – yes my TBR pile is that big!
It was a sweet story about two people who, for their own reasons, ran away to take jobs in the outback, but ended up finding what they were searching for.
Dr Gemma Kendall has been living in Jingilly Creek for three years and has become a valued member of the community. When the woman she lives with dies, she leaves Gemma her house. For Gemma it’s a tie to the community that she’s not sure she’s ready to accept. Her venture into the outback was for a short time. Time to recover from her broken engagement. She’s at a crossroads with what to do with the house and the community, when Sergeant Mark Di Angelo arrives in town.

Marc is running from the guilt that is eating him alive. He watched his best friend, Simon, die in his arms and Marc believes it should’ve been him. Simon had a wife and son and Marc didn’t. He arrives at Jingilly Creek for only a short period. He is hoping that some time away will give him some perspective on his life and job. What he finds is Gemma, the last thing he wants or needs – or so he thinks.
I enjoyed this story a lot. Gemma had healed, except she hadn’t realised it herself so for her the journey was to realise that she had found home. Marc was healing and Gemma helped him to face life and not give up.
