RWA Conference – Last Day

Well the last day dawned bright and early.  My roommate Vicky, no matter what time she gets to bed she always wakes up early – which is a good thing.

I had reason to be excited that day not only was it the Awards reception in the evening but my family were arriving for the start of our family holiday after the conference – Disneyland here we come!!

But before I could enjoy that I had the last day of conference to enjoy. I managed to get myself up and ready in time to head down and see what was on offer for breakfast. They’d been doing muffins and pastries and coffee/tea the previous days.  So I wander down and what do I find – NOTHING!!  I resigned myself to munching on an apple again and headed back up to the room to get it. I step out of the lift and find myself face to face with Donna and Fiona!  Both looking a little tired after having a great time at the Harlequin Party the evening before.  They were heading down for breakfast and asked me to join them.  I immediately accepted and I was so glad I did.  I had a great time chatting to them and getting to know them a bit more. It was a nice way to start the day. It also took the disappointment of learning that my family’s flight was delayed and they wouldn’t arrive until much later in the day.

I went to my first workshop, but all the while I was thinking about the flight delay and how my hubby was coping with both the kids being stuck in the airport. Of course, the delay was due to mechanical issues so of course, being the writer that I am, I was conjuring up all sorts of images and scenarios. Well now wasn’t that a good way to spend my time!  Needless to say my mind wasn’t on the workshops that day!  But I still learned a bit (I’m sure I retained some of it). You still can’t beat the quality of workshops that are always given at RWA so many great ones and lots of ‘aha’ moments.

Next it was time to head up to the room to get ready for the awards ceremony.  The lovely Beth Yarnall, who picked us up, had arranged for a girl to come and do hair and makeup for us.  It was such a fun thing to have done.  Be all glammed up for the awards ceremony.

My Family STILL hadn’t left Houston! By the time they left Houston they were nearly 8 hours delayed!  But they made it safely which was good!

My next blog will be all about the Awards Ceremony. But here are a couple of photos of me and Vicky all glammed up and ready to go!
