Review Tuesday – If You Give a Rake a Ruby by Shana Galen

Oh yes I know I’m very slack with my reviews – it’s been, wait – far too long, since I last did one. But today I’m giving a review of a great new book by Shana Galen. This is the second in her series “Jewels of the Ton”. I’m really looking forward to the third book which will be Lily and the seed was planted at the end that there is way more to Lily than meets the eye!

Our heroine is Fallon, the Marchioness of Mystery, and yes she has a mysterious past that no one knows about and she’d like to keep it that way. Unfortunately Warrick Fitzhugh of the Foreign Office knows her past and believes she’s involved in the events that have lead to the death of some of his fellow colleagues. Warrick is determined to find out what information Fallon has and he will use his past to get it.

However, Fallon has other ideas. She’s no wilting violet, and she’s as strong as the rubies that adorn her neck. She fires back and not only does she dispute the claims she dives headlong into finding out the person really responsible for the deaths of Warrick’s colleagues. What happens next is an unlikely partnership is forged as both Fallon and Warrick work together to uncover the mystery of who is wanting the “Diamonds in the Rough” dead.

The more time they spend together the more attraction and passion builds between them. Warrick finds he is falling under Fallon’s spell which causes him to let down his guard and his own secret comes out. Instead of being turned off by Warrick’s secret Fallon takes it in her stride and is able to get him back from the dark place he retreats to.

This is a fabulous story about two very strong characters who aren’t afraid to show their vulnerability in front of each other and use each other’s strength to grow and fall in love.
