It’s a Roller Coaster Ride

Well the picture isn’t on a roller coaster but it’s still the stomach dropping feeling – Splash Mountain Disneyland Anaheim. And it’s a lovely picture of me screaming my head off 😀

But when you’re an author that’s exactly what happens – you’re on a roller coaster ride. Some days you’re at the highest part of the roller coaster, the next you’re plummeting down and you’re stomach is left at the top while you process what the heck just happened!

For me that was the last week. I got a great email Monday morning, I received a request for a full manuscript. A couple of hours later I received a disappointing email – a rejection on a full I’d sent off a couple of weeks earlier. Then another couple of hours later the uncorrected galley of my debut release Masquerade landed in the inbox – what a day!! That was when it hit me, this is how it rolls and I have to enjoy the ride. And I have to admit – I love it.

The highs continued a couple of days later when I saw my name under the “Our Authors” section of the Crimson Romance website with a blurb about my book.

Then yesterday a friend sends me a tweet and says “BTW I put your book on my “to be read” shelf on Goodreads.  I’m on Goodreads!  It’s becoming so real now.

I know once it gets released and reviews come in I’m going to be on that roller coaster ride again. I know that not everyone will love it. But I’m grateful that the person took the risk and read my book. I’ll also know that some will love it and that will be the best feeling too!

So are you going to join me on this roller coaster ride? I hope so!!

Yes it’s a roller coaster for sure! Enjoy those highs when you can, learn from the lows and know you can pick yourself back up, dust yourself off and ride the ride over again.

  2. Hugs on the Rs, Nicole. Sucks huh? Been there, got the t-shirt. Just sent a full off myself last week and am angsting. But when the going gets tough I stare at my cover and am happy again. 😉
    Rollercoaster is right…
