April’s Books

Can you really believe it’s May already?  Where has the year gone.  For me school is coming to a close, still adjusting to school finishing the middle of the year.  When I spoke to my daughter’s teacher about the end of year party I asked her about the “Christmas” Party. She looked at me a bit weird until I explained that for all my life, school finished in December.  The weather was warming up and Christmas was just around the corner.  Well now the weather is warming and school is finishing up but it’s May!!  I’ll get used to – one day.

Anyway onto the books I read this month.  Because I’m concentrating on the line I’m targeting I read a lot of medical books this month, including 5 from one author that was part of a linked location series.

The first book I read wasn’t a Medical but a Desire by Day LeClaire.  This book, Dante’s Honor Bound Husband, is the 8th book in her “Dante Inferno” linked series.  Two families with a ‘curse or blessing’ of when you touch your soulmates hand you are bound for life.  Love the concept, loved each and every book and this book was no different.  There was also a big hint about a teaser mentioned in the previous book to this one.  So I figure there is another book on the way and I for one can’t wait because quite simply, this book will be about a secret child that NO ONE knew about.  Going to be good I’m sure.

The next book I read was by Australian Author Marion Lennox – Dating the Millionaire Doctor.  Wow was this an emotional book.  I loved every minute of it. Back in 2009 there was a major bushfire in Victoria Australia, that wiped out hundreds and hundreds acres of bushland.  Lots of people lost their homes and sadly lots lost their lives when a firestorm happened.  This book takes place about six months after the devastating fire. The heroine was recovering from the horror she experienced and saw and the hero was coming to terms with inheriting property from a father he didn’t know.  I truly recommend this book.  It will take you on an amazing emotional journey.

Socialite… or Nurse in a Million by Molly Evans was my next one.  I’ve never read this author before but I did enjoy the book. I enjoyed how the heroine finally believed in herself and her career choices and stood up to her family and how they turned their initial scorn into admiration.  The hero had a tough journey and had to face his fears when a co-worker is hurt.  It’s through the heroine’s support that he finally saw the light and was able to move on.

The next five books were all from Fiona McCarthur. All the books were based in her fictional town of “Lyrebird Lake”. All the heroines are midwifes and it’s based around their midwifery practices in the hospital.  The last two books featured the young girls from the first two books and also featured two brothers as the heroes.  They were all good reads and had the same comment theme through out.  The books were, in order: “The Midwife’s Little Miracle”, “The Midwife’s Newfound Family”, “Pregnant Midwife:Father Needed”, “Midwife in the Family Way” and “Midwife, Mother… Italian Wife”.  They are worth looking up and having a read of.

Well I hope May is a good reading month for you all.
