Review Tuesday – A Season for Sin by Vicky Dreiling

Let me start off by saying – I love Vicky‘s work. She is a friend and a fantastic author.

Her “A Season for Sin” is the prequel to her brand new series with Forever Romance books. The story reintroduces us to Bell – The Earl of Bellingham and good friend to Will who was the hero in “How to Ravish a Rake”.

Bell is a solitary man and keeps his emotions in check. After having lost his family he is quite happy to be alone. His fortune will go to the Crown on his death and he is totally fine with that outcome.

After learning that another good friend is about to enter into holy matrimony Bell is kind of lost. Enter two fellows who tippled a bit too much and ended up taking a nice swim in the Thames. Bell rescues them and starts a new and unlikely friendship with them.

With rumors of a new widow in town and Bell needing to find himself a new mistress he agrees to head to a Ball where this new widow is rumored to be attending.

Laura is a lovely widow who is trying her best to bring up her stepson. She misses her husband but is determined that her young charge will become an upstanding gentlemen. Unfortunately he falls prey to some other young youths and is becoming unruly.

When Bell and Laura first catch sight of each other at the Ball, you can feel the attraction buzzing between them. Laura is warned that Bell is a notorious Rake and to stay well away from him. Bell doesn’t realise Laura is the widow and decides he wants to get to know her.

The story is a sweet introduction to these two characters.  I’m looking forward to the full story of Bell and Laura and seeing how they both overcome their desire not to get involved with anyone on a permanent basis.

A Season for Sin is only $0.99 from Amazon and her first book and double Rita nominated “How to Marry A Duke” is now available in ebook for only $2.99.  Details are listed below on where to get these fabulous stories.

ABOUT VICKY:

Triple Rita®-finalist Vick Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle. That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble”.  A native Texan, she holds degrees in English literature and marketing.

HOW TO MARRY A DUKE blurb:

Tristan, the Duke of Shelbourne is a man with a mission: find a wife he can tolerate as long as they both shall live. No love is necessary—nor desired. But how to choose amid a dizzying array of wealthy-yet-witless candidates? Hire London’s infamously prim and proper matchmaker. Then pretend she’s not the most captivating woman he’s ever met . . .

Helping a devilish Duke create a contest to pick his perfect mate is the kind of challenge Tessa Mansfield relishes. Her methods may be scandalous, but she’s determined to find the notorious bachelor more than a wife—she’ll bring him true love. Yet when Tessa watches the women vie for the Duke’s affections, she longs to win his heart herself. And after a stolen kiss confirms Tristan’s desire, Tessa knows she has broken a matchmaker’s number one rule: never fall in love with the groom.

A SEASON FOR SIN blurb:

Introducing the Sinful Scoundrels…

The Earl of Bellingham is nothing is not a creature of habit: money, meals, and mistresses must be strictly managed if a man is to have a moment’s peace. It’s a system that works splendidly for him–until now. With his oldest and dearest friends succumbing, one by one, to wedded bliss, Bell is now restless and a trifle lonely. Enter the Sinful Scoundrels–Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, and Harry Norcliffe, Viscount Evermore–who drag him back into society and draw his rakish eye to the ton’s new beautiful young widow. Bell isn’t after a wife, but a challenge. And Laura Davenport should fit the bill quite nicely…

    Hi Nicole –

I’m thrilled that your featuring Vicky’s A Season for Sin today! I don’t know about everyone else but I’m thrilled she giving us a “taste” about Bell and Laura In A Season to Sin. I had pre-ordered it from Amazon so it “magically” appeared on my Kindle on release day but I’m still trying to find time to start it!

I’m thinking of waiting a while to start it because I know that once I read it I’ll want to know the “rest of the story” and find out what’s up next for Bell and Laura since we unexpectedly ended up having by grandson for a week and I don’t know about anyone else but reading with a 3 year old around isn’t easy to do!

1111 is my favorite number because January 1, 2011 was when Vicky released her very first book, How to Marry A Duke, and she was immediately recognized as an author not to be missed and #1 in my book!

    • Jeanne! Thanks so much for stopping by. You will love Bell and Laura’s story and the good thing is you can read it over and over until their book releases next year. Yes I have a 10 and 8 year old so I’m always sneaking off so I can read a couple of pages. I usually get enthralled in the book and often it’s not until they holler “MUM!!!” that I realise they need something! 🙂

  4. Nicole, thanks so much for featuring my books, and many thanks & good luck to everyone stopping by her blog! Cheers!

    • Rob says:

I think the woman should chsooe her ring as she will be wearing it for the rest of her life. Although I love my brothers-in-law dearly, the rings they picked for their wives look like those promise rings you’d give a highschool sweetheart. Now, I’m not materialistic, and I would have said yes’ no matter which ring my husband would have given me, but I did pick mine out, as my husband also respected and wanted to gift me with the exact ring that I wanted. Having said that, I’d like to share a favorite quote of mine, that I always give as advice to newlyweds: If you work as hard on your marriage as you did your wedding, you’ll have a long and happy life together.
