RWA Conference – Day 3

Well Thursday 26th July was the first official day of conference, it was also my Sports Dude’s 8th birthday.  I was proud of my little boy that he was happy for me to be away for his special day – probably helped that we were going to Disneyland a few days after his big day. The picture is of the cake my wonderful husband made for Sports Dude’s birthday the Saturday before I left.

After a bit of a lie in I headed off to my first workshop. Goodness me who do I see as I’m heading for my session – but Donna!  This was getting too funny. So we decided to have a bit of fun. Check out the “stalker” photo of us.

But fun aside, Donna is a wonderful person and a fantastic writer. I’m so glad we had so much fun at Anaheim. Can’t wait for the next conference where we run into each other.

A more ‘true’ photo of the two of us.  And wait till later on where you see a picture where we’re all glammed up!

I headed to the Pro Retreat this year. It was a good session talking about understanding contracts. It was great to have it broken down so clearly.  Unfortunately I couldn’t stay for the whole Pro Retreat as I had a meeting with, and I can now let everyone know because it’s been officially announced, Julia Quinn who is going to be the Keynote Speaker at the Romance Writers of Australia 2013 conference in Fremantle Western Australia.  She is absolutely lovely and we had a great time getting to know each other.

Later that afternoon I had organised to have some Author Photos taken with Marti Corn Photography.  It was a great session and I ended up with some great shots.  I narrowed it down to two and I think I’ve decided that this will be the main one I use for all my promotional items.

After the photos I chilled for the rest of the afternoon and got ready to meet the Crimson Romance Authors for a dinner. It was a fun night and we had a great time getting to know one another.  We also got to chat with the publicist as well.  Unfortunately the evening went on a bit longer than I thought it would and I missed out on attending the eharlequin.com pajama party.  I called in for a few minutes but it was winding down – next year!

So that’s all for my day 3 in Anaheim but officially Day 1 of the conference.  More soon!

That was so funny! I was really glad we got to have breakfast together on Saturday, too! I’m prob not going to Atlanta, but I hope to be in San Antonio the year after….

  2. I’m not sure about Atlanta either because of wanting to go to Aust next year and the timing plus cost of it all. But if we’re still here in 2014 San Antonio will be a definite.

I’m so glad we had breakfast too! I really enjoyed talking to you and Fiona. It was a lot of fun!
