There’s nothing quite like curling up with a good book. A book that takes you to exotic places
that, maybe, one day you’ll get there or you may not. I remember falling in love with many places through reading romance novels, imagining myself on a Greek Isle surrounded by crystal blue waters. Or maybe the extravagant, tucked away principality in Europe where it’s lush and green and handsome, single Princes wait for their Princess to show up and tame them. *sigh*
I love romance novels and now we have a new genre breaking out in the contemporary romance world – Coastal Romance. My latest release “Seducing Phoebe” takes place mainly at the beach. In fact I’ve had the beach or water mentioned in all my books. Perhaps it’s because I grew up on the West Coast of Australia and went to the beach as a child. Now I’m in Houston Texas and the beach is not so close. I miss the water. But it’s never far away when I can write about it or read about it.
Tell me what is your favourite Romance Location?

The Conversation
What a cheerful and happy post. As a child my family visited St Andrews beach, Scotland, and I have many happy memories of being there. (I am blogging about it on Dec 5th)
OOH can’t wait to read about it Sherry. I recall seeing the coast from St Andrews when I watch the golf telecasts from there. Thanks for commenting.
That’s a hard choice! England/Great Britain across the ages is probably the number one locale out of all the romances I’ve ever read. Most of the historical, contemporary, and chick lit novels I’ve read have been set there.
Hi Chanpreet! Thanks for stopping by. Most of the early romances I read were set in England. One of my all time favorite books is based in an Auction house in England.
Oooh! I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance set in an auction house. What’s the title?
Sorry for delayed response this message didn’t show up for a couple of days! But the book is called “Fortunes” by Vera Cowie. It was released in the late 80’s. It’s really good. I think I might have to revisit it again now that I’ve talked about it.
What better location is there for romance than by the sea?
Very true, Margaret. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and entering the contest.
Hi Nicole
I too love the beach and reading stories set in beach areas there is something so relaxing about the sound of the surf and water one of the most romantic places I have visited was in the South Pacific when we were on a cruise and it is Mare Island beautiful 🙂
Have Fun
Helen
Hi Helen! Thanks for commenting. I’ve not been on a cruise all the open water kind of freaks me out. A cruise around the South Pacific does sound pretty wonderful.
Lovely post Nicole! All this talk about coasts and beaches during this blog hop reminded hubby and I to actually go down to the beach which we did this afternoon. It was a little blustery, but the ice cream was nice. 🙂
Hi Elizabeth! Glad this blog hop has reminded you about the beach and Ice Cream tastes even better down the beach 🙂
Great post and the beach…any beach….is my ideal setting for romance. Just love it.
Hi Bette! Thanks for stopping by!! Beaches are good, especially as the sun is setting and you’re sitting cuddled up with your honey as the sky fades to black *sigh*
Hi Nicki! 🙂
I’d love to visit Scotland. But I live less than 30 minutes from Lake Michigan and I love to go to my hubby’s family cottage in northern lower Michigan on Black Lake. It’s not exactly a coast, but it’s really peaceful.
