Totally off writing today as I just had to share something my daughter said to me the other day.

With songs on the radio today there is a lot of producer interference to make them more dance clubby, or smoother, or even sound better. A little thing also is ‘autotune’ where the singer is taken from average to ‘unbelievable’ or I guess more ‘marketable’.

I think my kids don’t know what good music is, because the other day a song came on which is a fairly new release – I think and don’t ask me the name because I can’t remember it. Anyway my daughter says – is that a song from the olden days (ahhh I remember saying those words). When I asked her what she meant, she said, “Well you know those old songs you like to listen to on ’80’s on 8′.” OMG I’m officially my mother and have horrid taste in music!! I consider myself – hip maybe I’m dreaming.

But the more I got to thinking about it the more I could see her point. I’m a 70’s baby so 80’s was my era and I remember thinking songs back in the 60’s and 50’s sounded so dreary – of course now I realise those people could SING not like today (Real Housewives franchise – anyone?).

So I’ll take it on the chin because I get where she’s coming from, but I really didn’t need to hear it.

“Rock on!”
